Live Oak man dies in Friday night crash

A Live Oak man, who was a passenger in a two-vehicle crash Friday night in Suwannee County, died of his injuries while being airlifted to the hospital, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Reports show that on Friday, May 23, at 10 p.m., a 2009 Ford F150 pickup driven by Waylon Joseph Glenn, 25, Lake City, was traveling south on 185th  Rd. and stopped at the intersection of CR 136. A 2003 Nissan Murano, driven by Eduardo Fernandez, 23, Live Oak, was traveling east on CR 136 approaching 185th Rd. when the pickup entered into his path. The front of the Nissan struck the right side of the pickup and both vehicles came to final rest on the southeast corner of the intersection.

Both Fernandez, who sustained serious injuries, and his passenger, Gerardo Santiago, 26, Live Oak, were flown to Shands UF in Gainesville. Santiago expired in flight and was pronounced deceased. Glenn, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, was transported by ambulance to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center. It is yet undetermined if alcohol played a part in the crash. Charges are pending, FHP said.
