Women robbed in Drexel Park

Police investigators are looking for two suspects in the Wednesday night armed robbery of two women at Drexel Park.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., Valdosta police responded to Drexel Park on the 1400 block of North Patterson Street in reference to the report of an armed robbery.

A 32-year-old woman and a 24-year-old woman told police they were approached on foot by two black males in the park and that at least one produced a firearm. The men’s faces were covered during the robbery, and they left on foot with one of the victim’s cell phone.

No one was injured during the incident, said Valdosta Police Cmdr. Leslie Manahan.

Valdosta State University issued an alert to its students Wednesday night after learning of the incident at approximately 10:30 p.m., said Thressea Boyd, VSU director of communications.
