Benjamin”Ben”Franklin Allen III

Benjamin “Ben” Franklin Allen III, 59, of Jennings, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at his residence. He had been a resident of Hamilton County since 1994 when he moved from Glen St. Mary. Allen retired after 20 years from the Baker County Sheriff’s Department and also retired after 10 years from Prudential Insurance Company in security. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Jasper.

Survivors include his wife, Sandi Allen of Jennings; four children: Melissa (Scott) Walker of Folkston, Georgia, Jennifer Thompson of McClenny, Florida, Reverend Tommy (Jodie) McDonald of Moultrie, Georgia, and Sherri (Craig) Summerlin of Doerun, Georgia; one sister, Crystal (Johnny) Cash of Sumter, South Carolina; his father-in-law, W.T. Carden of Jennings; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 17 at New Hope Baptist Church with speakers Brother Jeff Cordero, Brother Ron Nelson, Brother Tommy McDonald, Brother Scott Walker and Brother Robert West. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
