Valdosta State will play three televised games this fall, the Gulf South Conference announced Wednesday as it released its GSC-TV schedule.
The Blazers’ Sept. 20 home game against Delta State as well as road games at North Alabama on Sept. 27 and West Alabama on Oct. 30 will be a part of the 11-game package that will be available on ESPN3 and WatchESPN with no blackout restrictions after the conference and network signed an exclusive agreement for the first time. It is the fourth straight year that ESPN and the GSC have reached agreement to televise the games.
“GSC-TV has been a ground-breaking project since its inception,” GSC Commissioner Matt Wilson said in a release. “By reaching an exclusive distribution agreement with ESPN on its ESPN3 and WatchESPN platforms, the Gulf South Conference continues to be a leader in NCAA Division II. We appreciate the opportunity and look forward to working closely with the ESPN team as we bring you the first season of GSC-TV on ESPN.”
According to the conference’s release, play-by-play commentator Don Russell and color commentator Rick Rhodes will continue to lead the broadcasts from the booth, while Gulf Coast Mobile, L.L.C. will produce the package for the third year in a row.
Also as part of the agreement with ESPN, the conference’s men’s and women’s basketball tournament championship games will be televised March 7 from the Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University.
