VALDOSTA — The 15th Annual Senior Living Showcase, presented by Care Medical and The Valdosta Daily Times, brought citizens from around the Lowndes County area to the James H. Rainwater Conference Center Saturday morning.
Hundreds of attendees enjoyed visiting the booths of many local businesses geared toward promoting an active senior lifestyle and redefining what it means to be a senior citizen.

Event Coordinator Rachel Thrasher said this year was certainly one of the best turn-outs that the event has seen.
“We have lots of new vendors this year,” said Thrasher, who further explained that sponsors listened to a lot of feedback during the past years to make sure the showcase is always up to date with what the public wants.
Care Medical served its first year as a master sponsor of the event but has attended for 14 years. Dr. Ryan Moorman, one of the chiropractors of Care Medical, said it is the only facility of its kind in the area. It offers interventional pain management, chiropractic, physical therapy, massage therapy and spine and joint care.
“Our goal is to rehabilitate patients,” said Moorman. “The response today has been overwhelming.”
Care Medical also had free on-site massages in its booth, which was a huge hit among attendees.
A newcomer to the event was Guess Landscape Management. Owner Sam Guess worked alongside his mother, Lucinda, at the booth. Guess has been in business for three years providing full-service lawn care and offering pine straw spread and delivery.

“We’ve had a very positive turn out,” said Guess. “We will definitely be back next year.”
Another big hit at this year’s showcase was the booth of Carter’s Produce. It was its first year attending, with Carter’s free samples of cheeses and other delicacies winning the crowd over.
Assistant Manager Linda Rowe seemed pleased with the turn-out and said they’d already run out of some things by mid-day and had to send workers out for more.
“This has been a great way to get publicity,” said Rowe.
Throughout the day, prizes were given away to lucky attendees which ranged from T-shirts to massages to gift cards.
