VALDOSTA — South Georgia Medical Center has received a pair of Women’s Choice Awards recognizing the Pearlman Cancer Center and the hospital’s overall patient experience.

In June, The Pearlman Cancer Center was named a Women’s Choice Award recipient as an America’s Best Hospital for Cancer Care.
“As one of America’s Best Hospitals for Cancer Care, Pearlman Comprehensive Cancer Center at South Georgia Medical Center is demonstrating their commitment to fulfill the needs and preferences of women by meeting the highest standards of excellence and performance,” said Delia Passi, the CEO and founder of the Women’s Choice Award program.
Passi said Pearlman was selected due to its accreditation as well as providing chemotherapy, radiation, hospice care and cancer research.
SGMC Chief Executive Officer Randy Sails said the award validates the dedication of the center’s physicians and staff.
“Our Cancer Center works very hard to exceed our patients’ expectations,” said Sauls. “Pearlman carefully crafts individualized care plans for high quality, high touch cancer services. When patients complete treatment, Pearlman is one of only a handful of community cancer centers to have an established survivorship program that is a recognized best practice in the field of cancer care.”
SGMC was also received a 2014 Women’s Choice Award for being voted one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience by women.

“Being treated with the proper level of care impacts one’s health, well-being and healing, so it is critical for women to know those hospitals that have demonstrated the highest level of quality care to their patients, with a special focus on the female experience,” said Passi.
The scoring process for the award focuses on female patient satisfaction and includes information from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems database and research conducted by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
“This is quite an honor. The caring and stewardship of our affiliated physicians, nurses and staff validates the tradition of quality patient care we proudly deliver to the communities we serve,” said Sauls. “SGMC, its campuses and affiliates are focused on keeping your health a high priority.”
