Frances Tinker

Frances Musgrove Tinker, 69, of Jacksonville, Fla. passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family. 

Frances was born in Live Oak, Fla. and lived in Jacksonville over 40 years. Mrs. Tinker retired from Memorial Hospital and the Brooks Foundation in May 2005. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her grandchildren, reading the weekly tabloids and playing the lottery and slot machines. She was always a winner. 

Survivors include her husband, Arthur W. Tinker; one daughter, Allyson (Brent) Loiselle; one son, William Shane (Stephanie) Holt, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Hailey and Nicholas Loiselle, Matthew, Katherine and Lauren Holt; two sisters: Barbara Temple Hagler, Mary Elizabeth Temple Rodgers and one brother, James A. (Andy) Temple, of Lake City, Fla. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma McMullen Cannon, and father, C. Council Musgrove. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at 2 p.m. at the Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, Fla. 32211 with Rev. John Harmling officiating. A private burial will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4114 Sunbeam Road, Bldg. 400, Jacksonville, Florida, Fla. 32257.

Alvin J. Holmes

June 9, 1931 – August 16, 2014

Alvin J. Holmes, Sr., age 83, a life long resident of Suwannee County, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 in the V. A. Medical Center, Lake City, Fla. after an extended illness.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Lula Mae Holmes of Live Oak, Florida; children: Eric Lamar Bennett (Ruby), Linda Holmes Ford (Charles), Sandra Williams and Shederick Williams; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one brother, Leroy Holmes (Tammy) of Quincy, Florida. Son, Alvin Holmes, Jr. preceded him in death.

Funeral service for Mr. Holmes will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 1:00 p.m. at the African Baptist Church with Reverend Alex Fountain, Pastor, and Bishop Henry Smart officiating.

Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Lester R. “Bud” Young

August 18, 2014.

Lester R. “Bud” Young, 75, Live Oak, FL passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014. The Livingston Manor, NY native retired from the Department of Corrections in Hamilton County after twenty years, also worked with the Suwannee NJROTC and was a member of Rocky Sink Baptist Church. Mr. Young is survived by his wife: Sheila Young, Live Oak, FL; two daughters: April Pinkard, Live Oak, FL, Anita Young, New York; three sons: Les Young, Jr. North Carolina, Edward Young, New York, Christopher Young, Live Oak; two sisters: Isabelle Chauncey, Claire Engelhard; two brothers: Chester Young, David Young; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son: Buddy Young; sister: Amy King; and brothers: Frank Young, Harlow Young and Lee Young. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 23 at Rocky Sink Baptist Church.
