Congratulations to the couple.
The 2014-15 Pioneer Day Granny and Pappy, Inez and Ralph Adams, were officially installed into office by County Judge Darren Jackson in a beautiful ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 1, in the lobby of the Lafayette County Courthouse. The Adams’s took the reigns from last year’s Granny and Pappy, Patricia and Jack Byrd and will serve until next year’s Pioneer Day.
Ralph and Inez have been married for 66 years and they have two children, Anthony Adams and Pamela Geiger.
Ralph was born in Lafayette County and he is a sprite 86-year-old. He used to read a lot, he said, but now he prefers to sit and watch the television. He also loves to hunt and fish.
His wife Inez, who is a young 82, was born in Lafayette County and has been keeping up with the times, learning how to use a computer and sharing things with her friends on Facebook. She used to write songs and some of them were recorded, she said. Now she enjoys reading and gardening.
Be sure to give Granny and Pappy a warm welcome on Pioneer Day, Saturday, Oct. 11, and offer them a friendly wave as they pass by in the parade, which starts promptly at 10 a.m.
Congratulations to this year’s Granny and Pappy, Inez and Ralph Adams!
