James “Buddy” Wallace Newbern, Jr.

James “Buddy” Wallace Newbern, Jr., 68, of Hahira passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at his residence after a lengthy illness.  He was born in Brunswick, GA on July 9, 1946 to the late James W. & Gladys (Tucker) Newbern.  He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church and worked with Parkwood Developmental Center.  Buddy enjoyed fishing, cooking, coaching little league baseball, going to the Smokey Mountains and was an avid Tony Stewart fan.

Survivors Include: Wife, Patricia Newbern, Hahira, GA; Daughter & Son-in-law: Tracy & Timmy Browning, Hahira, GA; Sons & Daughter-in-laws:  Steve & Brenda Newbern, Hahira, GA, Sean & Mandy Foster, Hahira, GA, Travis & Julia Foster, Greensboro, NC; Grandchildren:  Kyle Browning, Lacie Browning, Gage Browning & Adriona Newbern; Great Grandchildren:  Braedyn Browning & Paizlee Lambert; Sister & Brother-in-law:  Nell & Don Chivers, Nashville, GA and a number of nieces, nephews and a very special furry companion, “Darby”.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Friendship Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, November 24, 2014 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA  31602.
