Police Chief Buddy Williams reported over the weekend that his department was investigating the shooting death of Willie James Jackson III, 30, Live Oak. According to the report, the incident occurred around 12:03 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Big B, a night club establishment off Walker Avenue in Live Oak.

According to an LOPD press release, officers arriving on the scene immediately administered first aid to Jackson until EMS arrived. Jackson was transported to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center where life flight was prepared to take him to Shands UF in Gainesville. However, Jackson passed from his fatal injuries before he could be transported.

The LOPD report states that a second gun shot victim from the Big B incident, Harry Edward Tillman, 34, arrived on his own at Shands Live Oak RMC. Tillman suffered a single gun shot injury and was transported to Shands UF, where he remains in stable but serious condition.

Williams said detectives were conducting interviews throughout the weekend and into the week to determine a suspect. As of Monday, Dec. 1, a suspect has been identified and is being questioned by the LOPD.

The LOPD encourages witnesses with information regarding the investigation to not get directly involved with individuals in the incident, but to contact Detective Rogers or Detective Rountree at the LOPD at 386-362-7463.
