Treehouse of wonder

It’s not finished yet, but that doesn’t take away the beauty and wonder that is the new treehouse at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park north of Live Oak.

The DIY Network is filming the construction of the treehouse that perches amongst the branches of a stately old oak tree overlooking the Suwannee River inside the park. They are filming for an upcoming episode of “The Treehouse Guys”, a show where a team of construction experts and artists build creative and complex treehouses and other outdoor projects.

They are putting on the final touches on the treehouse which will be equipped with all the amenities of home including running water, plumbing and electricity.

Inside the treehouse features two floors, a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living area.

Although the DIY guys crafted the treehouse there is a charm about the place that fits the music park and speaks to the family who founded it. A table located inside has a glass top with piano keys underneath. There is a photo of the Cornett’s (park owner and family) and an interior door is beautifully carved with a replica of the tree and treehouse with music park founder Jean Cornett’s likeness carved standing underneath.

Sadly, Ms. Jean passed away in early February before she could see the finished product. It is said by her family that she “enjoyed her last full day on earth supervising the building of the treehouse.” We’re sure she would be very proud.

The music park can’t wait to show off the treehouse.

We told you about the treehouse before in this newspaper. To read the full story, visit suwanneedemocrat.com and search “Treehouse Guys”. We will let you know when DIY plans to air the treehouse episode.

Members of the Suwannee Democrat editorial board are Myra C. Regan, Publisher, and Jeff Waters, Editor. The Democrat Says is formed by that board.
