Suspect arrested in machete home invasion

VALDOSTA – According to Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday evening around 10 p.m. the victim was at home her home, at the 3300 block of Island Drive when her estranged husband, William Marvin Wilson entered the front door of the home armed with a shotgun.
Wilson reportedly pointed the shotgun at the female, a minor child and a male who was in the home. The female grabbed the shotgun and began wrestling with Wilson when he removed a machete from the rear of his pants as they continued to struggle. Wilson fled the residence on foot taking the shotgun with him but dropping the machete, according to reports.

Following the incident, deputies and investigators remained in the area attempting to locate Wilson.
Arrest warrants were issued for William Wilson alleging aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and cruelty to children. The cruelty to children charge was the result to the event taking place in front of a minor child.
Around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, deputies found William Wilson as he emerged from the woods nearby the residence, according to reports.
William Wilson was taken to the Lowndes County Jail where he was booked on the listed charges. He will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court tomorrow where a bond will be considered.
Investigators are continuing to investigate and additional charges are likely.
