Branford’s new skatepark dubbed the Burger Bowl was opened in grand style Saturday at Hatch Park. The Burger Bowl is the second phase for Procko Skate Park.
The much anticipated new kidney-shaped bowl was open for skating competitions throughout the day, including the first Carve to Cure Duchenne fundraiser. A total of $4,400 from the day’s many events will benefit Cure Duchenne, a Newport Beach, Calif. nonprofit that conducts scientific research for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Duchenne is a fatal disease that primarily affects boys. Procko Skate Park founder Bill Procko’s son was diagnosed with the disease.
The Burger Bowl, designed by Tony Misiano and named for McDonald’s generous contribution to its construction, is a unique addition to the North Central Florida area, according to Procko.
