Three fire departments were called out to a house fire in the early hours of Thursday at 1722  Poplar Street in Remerton.

Chief Jamie Horne of the Remerton Fire Department said the house – which was described in online real estate listings as a multi-family residence – was vacant and that there were no injuries.

The Remerton Fire Department called in the Valdosta Fire Department and Lowndes County Fire Rescue for assistance, he said. Firefighters were on the scene past 2:30 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
