- People come from all over the state of Florida as well as neighboring Georgia and Alabama.
Flea Across Florida returns on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11-12, along US Highway 90 for another weekend of great bargains and unique finds. The semi-annual flea market and yard sale extravaganza put on by the Friends of Flea Across Florida draws thousands to Live Oak and other cities along US 90 each spring and fall. Shoppers can browse through a varied assortment of goods such as antiques, collectibles, furniture, art, clothes, jewelry, handmade crafts and food.
“We have people that make the whole trip twice a year to visit this event,” said Event Chairman Jeanne d’Eauede. “It’s growing bigger every year, and it’s a whole lot of fun.”
Hailed as the longest open market in the state, Flea Across Florida now stretches for over 330 miles from Pensacola to its newest, most eastern location, Macclenny. Other new additions include Monticello and the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, Chipley in Washington County, and Havana.
“We have a lot of new additions this year,” said Jeanne. “People can look at our interactive Google map to see the locations we know about. There are literally hundreds of individual yard sales.”
Permanent flea markets, chambers of commerce and businesses participate annually alongside a host of individual yard sales. Those who plan on participating are encouraged to contact Jeanne at 850-290-3766 or jeanne@jeannedesigns.com to have their location officially listed on the interactive Google map, completely free of charge. Just provide her with the full address of your business or yard sale site and any pictures you might want to include. The map can be found through www.thefleaacrossflorida.com.
Registered local locations for Flea Across Florida vendors include the Suwannee Mini Mall, the Straw Market, the Live Oak Elks Lodge, the Mission Thrift Store, St. Francis Xavier Parish, and Surrey Place in Live Oak, and Gateway Auction and Trading Co. and Kornucopia in Wellborn.
On Saturday, Sept. 12, Power Country 102.1 FM will host a live remote broadcast from the Suwannee Mini Mall located at 9039 101st Court in Live Oak. Guests can munch on some free hot dogs while browsing through the mall’s indoor shops and outdoor vendors.
Official Flea Across Florida hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11 and 12, rain or shine all along US 90. For more information, please visit www.thefleaacrossflorida.com.
