Welcome to, Moe’s?

The opening of a new restaurant in Live Oak, Moe’s Southwest Grill, has been pushed back to December due to a holdup in the finalization of architectural plans, according to Moe’s franchisee Robert Mann. Robert and his wife, Michelle, own and operate the Moe’s in Lake City.

Moe’s was originally slated to open by the end of September. The restaurant will still be located in the space next to Verizon Wireless on US 129 just north of Suwannee Plaza and Walmart.

Mann said they have been working with architects to finalize the restaurant plans and are still in the beginning stages of renovation and construction. Suwannee County Planning and Zoning Director Ron Meeks reports no plans or permits have been submitted to the county for the Moe’s project yet. Instead, contractors are working on what they can without a permit for now, Mann said.

About 15 new jobs will be created at Moe’s and hiring will begin four to six weeks before the restaurant opens, Mann said. He said new employees will be trained in the Lake City location under a recently hired general manager of the Live Oak location.
