Jessica Musgrove

Musgrove named SGMC associate inpatient unit director

VALDOSTA — South Georgia Medical Center announced that Jessica Musgrove has been named associate inpatient director of 4W and 4 Medical.

Musgrove will be responsible for the operations of floors 4W, which is a medical-surgical unit, and 4 Medical, an observation unit. The units provide 24-hour care, seven days a week.

Musgrove said she wants to ensure the delivery of quality patient care through proper implementation of the nursing process for all age groups served in the units.

As associate inpatient director, Musgrove said she hopes to maintain an atmosphere in which SGMC’s mission, vision, values, code of conduct, goals, policies and standards are consistently met.

Musgrove graduated in May 2009 from South Georgia State College in Douglas with an associate of registered nursing degree. She resides in Homerville and is a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Stith named financial advisor 

VALDOSTA — Rachel C. Stith was named financial advisor in an announcement by Steve Boatner, investment executive of the Investment Centre at CBCBank.

A 2010 graduate of Valdosta State University with degrees in finance and accounting, Stith is a Valdosta native.

She formerly worked with Wells Fargo Advisors. Stith has more than five years of experience in the investment industry. She holds Series 7 and Series 66 Securities Registrations as well as life, health and variable products insurance licenses.

Boatner and Latricia Clary, administrative assistant, are the other two members of the TIC team.

The Investment Centre is located at Commercial Banking Company. Securities are offered through Cetera Investment Services, member FINRA/SIPC. Cetera provides customers with access to full-service brokerage for a wide range of investment needs. 

Officers complete GPSTC course

FORSYTH — Deputy Brandon Ammons and Deputy Jared Davis of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office completed a D.U.I. Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course taught by the Georgia Police Academy Division of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.

The training program includes the observation techniques involved in recognizing when a driver may be operating a vehicle under the influence of of intoxicants. Patterns of driver behavior and the more common driving errors committed by drivers under the influence of intoxicants are identified. 

Students are taught the safe methods of stopping and approaching a suspect driver and the observations to make in order to determine if a driver is under the influence. Emphasis is placed on the proper manner in which to administer field sobriety tests. 

Practical exercises are conducted during the day and night, and are used to emphasize the importance of a proper response to this problem. 

The field sobriety tests taught meet the standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and International Association of Chiefs of Police. Funding for this program has been provided by the State of Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

Meli to serve on advisory council 

Hospice of South Georgia and Langdale Hospice House have announce that Volunteer and Facility Manager Bill Meli has been selected to serve on the Ethics Advisory Council for the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. 

Meli will play a vital role in providing leadership, technical service, and educational assistance to NHPCO members, as well as the public.  

The Ethics Advisory Council is involved in publishing technical monographs, recommending, designing, and/or presenting educational workshops at NHPCO conferences, publishing articles in NHPCO and other publications and collecting data for national research projects. 

The Ethics Advisory Council plays a key role in identifying ethical issues in hospice and palliative care that need to be addressed.
