Robert James “Bob” Majewski, age 91, of Ocala, Fla. passed away on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015. He was born in West Palm Beach, Fla. on Nov. 15, 1924. Bob met and married his wife of 64 years, Barbara “Bobbie”, and together they raised five children. Bob served in the Navy in both World War II and the Korean War. He retired as a full lieutenant. From there, Bob worked for Gulf Oil Corp. until he retired in 1983. He and Bobbie traveled the world and had many wonderful vacations. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was still a member of Rotary. He moved to The Bridge in Ocala from Marion Landing after his wife passed away. He sat on the food committee there and enjoyed the many activities. Survivors include his 3 sons, Michael, Jeff, and Chris; 2 daughters Susan Povey and Tammy Clayton; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A Mass for Mr. Majewski will be celebrated at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Ocala on Dec. 18, 2015 at 9:30 am and the burial of the ashes will be at the Florida National Cemetery at 12:30 pm on the same day. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Hospice of Marion County, PO Box 4860, Ocala Fla. 34478.

Betty Ransom, 76, O’Brien, FL passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015. Born in Ben Hill County, GA, she and her family moved to Miami, FL in 1947. She married in 1960 and became an Army wife and lived throughout the Southeast of the US and in Italy. In 1976, she moved to O’Brien from Ft. Belvoir, VA. She was of the Baptist faith and taught Sunday School in VA. Mrs. Ransom loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren. She loved to read, garden when she was physically capable, watch ID, her dogs, listening to gospel music and puzzles. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Ransom is survived by her husband of 55 years: Arthur Ransom, O’Brien, FL; daughter: Teresa “Terry” Ransom, Tallahassee, FL; son: Thomas “Tommy” (Ragena) Ransom, O’Brien, FL; two grandchildren: Dustin (Hannah) Ransom, San Diego, CA and Aubrey Ransom, O’Brien; sister: Ruth Williams, Highlands, NC; Aunt: Evelyn Higginson, Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 15th at North Florida Christian Center with Rev. Retha Garten and Rev. George Fryar officiating. Interment was in Arp Cemetery in Arp, GA.

Shirley L. Blanton Curl, 79, of Pinetta, Fla. passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015 after a long illness. The Jasper, Fla. native moved to Pinetta, Fla. a year ago from Live Oak, Fla.
Mrs. Curl is survived by her husband: Kenny Curl, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Two daughters: Sharon Knea, Valdosta, Ga and Darlene Dedge, Pinetta, Fla.; One sister: Evelene Fardulis, Candler, Nc; Seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons:Jimmy and Alan Zipperer.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Naylor Holiness Church Cemetery, Naylor, Ga with Pastor Lee Barnes officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jesse L. Quimby
May 3, 1925 – Dec. 9, 2015
Jesse L. Quimby, affectionately known as “Poppy”, passed away Dec. 9, 2015 of natural causes. He was born in Miami on the third of May, 1925. He grew up in Miami, then moved to Live Oak in 1985. He worked for Eastern Airlines tor 35 years as lead man mechanic. Then he was with McCrimon’s Office Systems for 19 years.
Jesse was a Navy veteran who served in the Korean War and WWII. He was stationed on the Midway out of Jacksonville, Fla.
Jesse is survived by his children: Joyce Scott (Richard Scott) and Alice Molter (Charles Molter). Six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church in Live Oak, Fla., on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015 at 11 a.m.

Donald Clarence Jensen
Dec. 9, 2015
Donald Clarence Jensen, 74, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away Dec. 9, 2015. Don was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps stationed out of Parris Island in South Carolina until 1964. After the military he started working for North American Rockwell and was on the test team to secure the first manned space craft to orbit the moon. This mission was the Apollo 8 launch. He then went on to complete his education and received his BA degree in 1972 from Florida Technical University in Titusville, Fla. Upon receiving this degree in Environmental Engineering he joined the State of Florida Department of Environmental Regulation and retired in 2012.
He is survived by his wife Glenda Jensen, Live Oak, Fla.; his daughter Dana Jensen (Gary), Cortex, Colo.; son Craig Jensen (Effie), Baltimore, Md.; daughters Susan Noell, Jacksonville, Fla., son Kenneth Dyal (Patti), Jacksonville, Fla.; and one sister Gaylene Baier (Bill), Montgomery, Texas; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Anyone that knew him knew his love for the outdoors and his love of fishing. In fact he was always looking for a partner to join in the boat for a day offshore. Private family Services will be held at a later date.
