Registration closing soon for VLPRA adult co-ed kickball

It’s time to take it way back — to elementary school. 

Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority is hosting a co-ed adult kickball league this winter that will take grown-ups back to their youth.

Registration is open now through Thursday.

All the fun and excitement of playing kickball returns to Valdosta for another season.

Participants can register an entire team or can sign up individually as “free agents” and be placed on a team. The minimum age is 17 years old and each team must have at least nine people. There must also be two females in the lineup and/or on the field at all times. 

The season begins at the end of January and play runs through March with an end-of-season tournament. Games will be Tuesday and Thursday nights at Freedom Park. 

The cost is $200 per team or $20 for free agent individual registration.

Register now for adult flag football

The gridiron is open to grown-ups in Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority’s adult flag football league. There are divisions for men and for women in the 7-on-7 league.

Registration is open now through Thursday. Participants can register an entire team or can sign up individually as “free agents” and be placed on a team. The minimum age is 17 years old and each team must have at least nine people. 

The season runs January through March with an end-of-season tournament.

Youth winter soccer registration ends today

Registration for VLPRA’s Co-Ed Winter Soccer League ends today. 

The Valdosta-Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority offers the program to children as young as 3 years old, teaching them soccer basics while promoting physical activity.

Meanwhile, the program offers older players a competitive soccer outlet. No matter the age, VLPRA soccer is a fantastic opportunity for exercise while also instilling lifelong values of good sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork.

The registration deadline has been extended to incorporate additional teams/players.

The league has five age groups to choose from: U-6, U-8, U-10, U-12 and U-14. The U-6 and U-8. Leagues are $50 per child while the other leagues are $75. There’s an extra $10 fee for anyone who lives outside of Lowndes County and there are discounts for families who register more than one child. 

The registration fee includes a jersey and socks.

The season runs from January through March. All games and practices will be at VLPRA’s Vallotton Youth Athletic Complex.

Deep South Officials looking for new officials

The Deep South Officials organization is holding a meeting to add new officials for the upcoming spring sports season.

The meeting is scheduled for Jan. 10 at 4 p.m. at the Valdosta YMCA.

The meeting is open for anyone interested in calling high school, youth or adult baseball and softball.
