VALDOSTA — Valdosta native Taylor Brooks is a technologically inspired artist trying to make a name for himself.

“My whole life I’ve always been artsy,” said Brooks. “I started out drawing from ‘Dragon Ball Z’ and can learn how to do anything. Just give me an idea and I’ll try it.”

After graduating from Lowndes High School, Brooks enrolled at Georgia Military College for his core classes and found himself inspired by a Macbook.

“I’d just bought a Macbook and googled how to make money using it,” said Brooks. “It came up with a lot of media results and the video for the one-minute painting popped up.”

The “one minute painting” is a viral YouTube video that features an artist creating an intricate work of art using spray paint in one minute.

Brooks decided to go purchase spray paint supplies and give the style a try.

He had a knack for it and began creating custom pieces for clients in November. He spends anywhere from 10 minutes up to an hour on individual pieces.

“I consider my style more of a young type,” said Brooks. “With all the new technology, its modern and different.”

In true entrepreneur style, Brooks began promoting his working and reaching out to a variety of local businesses to sell pieces.

Three businesses he approached asked to have entire walls painted, leading him to learn how to do graffiti-style art for murals.

He was able to give back using his art during the holidays as he sent cards of his artwork out to hospitals.

Brooks also partners with local musicians to combine talents for promotional videos. He creates time-lapse videos showcasing how his art is completed and lays tracks over the videos.

“The main thing I want to achieve is for my art to give off vibes,” said Brooks. “I want to make people feel something, which is why I like what I do.”

Beyond GMC, Brooks said he believes he will attend Valdosta State University to study some form of mass media or marketing with a potential minor in art.

He utilizes social media for promos and to reach new clients. He can be found at www.facebook.com/brooks.sprayart and reached via e-mail at taylorbrooks0819@yahoo.com.

Prices vary pending complexity of the design and canvas size.
