Sharon Gayle Smith

Sharon Gayle Smith, (sister of retired VSU Professor Dr. Mary Smith Willis) transitioned from this life during the early morning hours of Jan. 14, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lillie Smith, brothers Willie James Smith and Freddie Smith and her daughter Angela Raquel Peterson. 

She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Rhonda Nichole Pruitt (Vincent Hartley) and Edwina Rochelle Lewis, four grandchildren, Jovan, Rayshawn, Shanice, and Vinson; brothers and sisters, Emma Brown, Robert Smith (Frances), Elder Tommie Smith (Heather), Helene Smith Pearsall, Charles Smith (Michele), Bernard Smith, Mary Smith Willis, Warren Smith (Angie), Jeffrey Smith (Nicole), April Smith, and Tyrone Smith (Kendra); many caring relatives, and a host of sorrowing friends.

 Service of remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at Apostolic Revival Center;  6702 NW 15th Avenue;  Miami, FL 33147. The family will receive friends this evening, Jan. 22, 2016  from 4-8 p.m. at Hall-Ferguson-Hewitt Mortuary,1900 N.W. 54th Street, Miami, Fla.
