BHS Beta Club students to compete at National Convention

Five students from the Branford High School Beta Club attended the Beta Club State Convention in Orlando at the Florida Hotel on Jan. 22 and 23. The students competed in a variety of creative and academic categories.

Two students qualified to compete at the National Beta Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana in June. Wyatte Eakins placed first in the state for woodworking and Alivya Ward placed third in the state for watercolor painting. In addition, three other students, Seth Reaves, Natalie Manna and Sarah Bohn represented the club with pride throughout the general assemblies.

The club is now looking to raise funds to take these students to the National Convention this summer. Anyone interested in helping, donation can be sent to Branford High School, 405 S Reynolds St. Branford, FL 32008. Six members of the club will be able to participate in various exhibition activities including a team web design challenge. 

Beta Club Sponsor, Tammy Neil stated she is very proud and excited for these students. She added that it represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to be recognized on a national level for superior performance.
