Stuart Chase Cook of Valdosta, Georgia, died Jan. 30, 2016, in a hospital in Gainesville, Georgia following complications from an extended illness. A service celebrating his life will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 753 College St., Macon, Georgia with the Rev. Dwight Ogier officiating. The family will greet friends in the undercroft of the church following services. Burial will be private for family only.
Stuart was born September 6, 1975, in Macon, to Charles McClatchey and Emily Chase Cook. He was educated at First Presbyterian Day School where he excelled in soccer, track, baseball and football. He broke school records for field goals and PAT’s and was named to the All-City, All-State and All-Region football teams.
He attended Valdosta State University where he was a member and officer of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and was named Brother of the Year and Athlete of the Year. Later, he was a chapter advisor and was honored as Alumnus of the Year.
He is survived by his beloved son, Jackson Chase Cook of Valdosta; his parents, Charles and Emily Cook of Macon; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Nicole Cook of Atlanta; two nieces, Amelia and Isabelle Cook and an expected nephew, and by his uncle and aunt, Henry and Beverly Chase of Pittsboro, NC. He was predeceased by his grandparents, the Honorable and Mrs. J. Eugene Cook of Atlanta, GA, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Chase of Huntsville, AL.
