Sara Celeta Bradshaw Eason

July 4, 1915 – Feb. 4, 2016

Sara Eason died Feb. 4, 2016. She was 100 years old and the 10th of 11 children born to the late John Harley and Mary Alice “Mamie” Lee Bradshaw of Jennings, Florida. The family referred to Celeta as their “firecracker” born on the 4th of July, 1915.   

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Eason Heckle (Bill), and her son, Jamie “Jim” Vernon Eason (Debbie); grandchildren, Elizabeth Lee Heckle, Melissa Eason Bell (Matt), Heather Eason, and Jonathan Eason; two great grandsons, Jacob and Owen Bell. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Frank Eason, and all ten of her brothers and sisters.

During her long life, Mrs. Eason was employed in a variety of fields; an elementary school teacher in a two-room school house, office nurse and surgical nurse to eye, ear, nose and throat physicians, and bookkeeper for an orthodontist.

Services for Sara Celeta Bradshaw Eason were held on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Hutto officiating. Burial followed at Sassers Landing Cemetery near Jennings.

Memorials may be made to McGregor Presbyterian Church, 6505 St Andrews Rd, Columbia, S.C. 29212, or to Jennings Primitive Baptist Church in Jennings, Florida or to The Alzheimer’s Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd #100, West Columbia, SC 29169.

Harry T. Reid Funeral Service in Jasper, Florida, and Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington, SC assisted the family with arrangements.
