Mildred Estelle Hewitt

Mildred Estelle Hewitt , 95, of Mayo, passed away on Feb. 5, 2016 in Perry, Fla. Mildred was born Aug. 11, 1920 in Mayo, Florida to the late George Wimberely and Ada  Session Wimberley.

Mrs. Hewitt was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Airline Baptist Church.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Aubrey Hewitt, her brother Ralph Wimberley.

Mrs. Hewitt is survived by her son, Randall Hewitt and his wife Barbara Jo; grandsons, Randal Hewitt and wife Danna, Shawn Hewitt, and Kelly Hewitt; six great grandchildren; three brothers Jack Wimberley, Coy Wimberley, and Oveida Junior Wimberley Jr.; as a well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Airline Cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.

Norma Davis Tilford

June 20, 1923 – Jan. 28, 2016

Norma Davis Tilford, 93, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016. Mrs. Tilford was born June 20, 1923, in Wilmington, N.C. to the late Clifford H. and Nancy Lott Davis.

Mrs. Tilford was raised in St. Petersburg, Fla., where she met and married her husband, Earl H. Tilford, in 1942 while he was serving in the U.S. Merchant Marine. After her husband became a Presbyterian minister, she served with him in churches in AL, FL, and the Cayman Islands. She became known in Florida as a talented artist. She leaves behind family and friends who will miss her deeply.

She is preceded in death by her husband Earl H. Tilford Sr, her brother Adrian C. Davis and her granddaughter Victoria Tilford.

Mrs. Tilford is survived by her son Earl H. Tilford Jr. and his wife Grace; grandchildren Michael A. Tilford (Amy) of Northport, Ala., Ellen E. Cantymagli (Nick) of Lancaster, Pa.; and her great grandchildren Madelyn and Lillian Tilford, of Northport, Ala. and Gia Cantymagli of Lancaster, Pa.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Mayo First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Hudson officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Cemetery in Mayo. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
