Dickerson named Ga. Watermelon Queen

ADEL — Andi Dickerson of Adel was crowned the 2016 Georgia Watermelon Queen at the annual Georgia Watermelon Convention in St. Simons Island.
Dickerson will spend the next year promoting the Georgia Watermelon Association and the watermelon industry.
She will have the opportunity to attend NASCAR races with Ross Chastain, speak in schools about the nutritional advantages of watermelons and travel across the U.S. and Canada, promoting the watermelon industry.
At the end of her one-year reign, she will travel to Lake Tahoe, Nev., to compete in the National Watermelon Pageant. In addition to the year of travel and appearances, she received a $5,000 scholarship to help further her education.
Dickerson is the 22-year-old daughter of Steve and Nanette Dickerson of Adel. She is employed by the Cook County Airport and the Cook County Economic Development Commission.
She is also a graduate from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College with an associate’s degree in marketing management.
