Performance Martial Arts Academy sends 25 to regional championships

Performance Martial Arts Academy sent a larger than usual number of competitors to the Tallahassee Regional Taekwondo Championships, and the group excelled there too.
Chief Instructor Mitchell Church was pleased of his 25 students and their accomplishments, which included 16 first-place finishes led by Mark Webb in the fourth- and fifth-degree black belt division. Webb won in traditional forms, traditional weapons, creative forms, creative weapons, extreme forms and extreme weapons. He also placed second in sparring and third in combat weapons to lead the Performance Martial Arts Academy showing.

Also winning events for PMAA were William Horsley, Lukas Smidtas, ALyssa Donaldson, Alacia Donaldson, Rhett Hamm, John Michael Castleberry, Mason Woods and Jaleel Miley.
Horsley won sparring in the second- and third-degree black belt division, also adding a second-place finish in traditional weapons and third in traditional forms and combat weapons. Smidtas, meanwhile, was first in sparring and combat weapons in the second- and third-degree black belt division, also finishing second in traditional weapons and third in traditional forms.
Alyssa Donaldson got her win in the first-degree black belt division in sparring, also finishing second in combat weapons and traditional weapons, while Alacia Donaldson was first in traditional weapons in that same division. Hamm, also a first-degree black belt, was first in traditional forms and traditional weapons, garnering second-place finishes in sparring and combat weapons.
In the color belt division, Castleberry won combat weapons, while placing third in sparring; Woods was first in extreme forms, second in combat weapons and third in sparring and traditional weapons; and Miley was first in sparring, second in combat weapons and third in traditional weapons and traditional forms.
“This is the largest group of competitors that we have had in a few years,” Church said in a release. “I appreciate their hard work in practice and the support of their parents and grandparents.”
Also placing at the regional championships were Patrick Horsley, second in traditional weapons and sparring and third in traditional forms in the second- and third-degree black belt division; Alexander Wang, fourth in traditional weapons in that same division; Madison Swain, second in traditional forms, traditional weapons and sparring and third in combat weapons in that division.

In the first-degree black belt division, Rebecca Lambert was second in traditional forms and extreme forms; Jaqueline Wang was fourth in traditional forms; Marcayla Barnes was third in combat weapons and Joshua Jackson was fourth in traditional weapons.
And in the color belt division, Daniel Dorminey was second in combat weapons and third in sparring; Zack Story was fourth in sparring and combat weapons and Lauren Garner was third in traditional forms.
