Advanced Disposal, Deep South Sanitation apply to renew contracts

VALDOSTA — Advanced Disposal Services Middle Georgia and Deep South Sanitation have applied to renew their respective residential solid waste franchise agreements with the county to continue operations.
Both franchise agreements end Thursday, March 31, according to documents.
The Lowndes County Commission will vote whether to renew the companies’ applications at the commission’s 5:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting, at the the Lowndes County Judicial and Administrative Complex, 327 N. Ashley St.
The commission will also vote whether to approve:
• Appointing Christina Bennett to the animal control board.
• Appointing Ronald Skrine, Tammy Greenway, Floyd Rose and Bob Wilburs to the Valdosta-Lowndes County Metropolitan Planning Organization.
• The Fiscal Year 2016 Homeland Security Grant application.
• A statewide mutual aid agreement.
• An updated animal services ordinance.
• Community housing development organization.
