Three arrested on drug charges in Hamilton

Three were arrested on drug possession during a driver’s license checkpoint conducted by Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Thursday, April 14,  according to the HCSO.  

According to the report, an officer was conducting a driver’s license checkpoint on U.S. 129 near the intersection of SW 109th Drive, when a vehicle driven by Michael Eugene Choi, 28, of Albany, Ga., pulled up. The officer asked Choi to pull the vehicle over after a strong odor of raw marijuana emitted from the vehicle, according to HCSO.

According to the report, Choi explained he had an “8th of weed,” in the vehicle, which weighed 9.8 grams. Choi also handed the officer a bottle with seven whole Xanax pills, three-quarters of a pill and a bag containing 1.8 grams of cocaine.

The two passengers: Michael Hunter Choi, 20 and Jessica Raenay French, 24, both of Albany, Ga. were asked to get out of the vehicle. According to the report, Michael Hunter Choi handed over a pack of cigarettes that contained two capsules filled with a brown substance that he said was heroin.

During the search of the vehicle, officers found a bag in the center console containing 29 Aderol pills that Michael Eugene Choi said were his, according to the report.  

In the back seat, a box containing 9.8 grams of marijuana, five Aderol pills, two grams of cocaine, one hydrocodone pill and one oxycodone pill was found, according to HCSO.

All three stated the box’s contents were theirs to party with over the weekend, according to the report.  

All three were arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
