- The Georgia Military College softball team (35-22) is headed to the national tournament, slated for May 18-21 in St. George, Utah after a thrilling weekend in which the Bulldogs won the conference championship title.
History was made Sunday for Georgia Military College softball (35-22) as the Bulldogs jumped on South Georgia College early and never looked back en route to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) championship title.
They won running away, 8-3 to advance to the NJCAA Division I Softball National Championship.
Four first-inning runs helped the Bulldogs jump out with the early lead against South Georgia State College at Strong Rock in Locust Grove in Sunday’s play.
Jordan Crews racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Bulldogs with a double in the third inning and a single in the first and fifth innings. Jade Moncrief and Jordan Crews provided the firepower as well as they both pounded out home runs in the Bulldog win.
A three-run fourth inning helped bring South Georgia State College within four with a wild pitch and a two-run single by Chancey starting off the South Georgia State College rally, but Madason Messer got Latner to fly out to end the inning.
Messer turned in another solid pitching performance against a very well coached team as she only gave up three earned runs in the seven innings pitched.
