Community members of all ages are invited to the free event.
Veterans Fest coordinator Wendy Allen said the event is a great way for veterans who are unable to leave the grounds to get out and have fun.
“We just try to bring the community together,” said Allen, “because a lot of the veterans can’t leave the facility. It’s just a lot of fun for them.”
Based on previous years, she expects a turnout of more than 300 for the event.
The festival will kick off with the presentation of the colors by Georgia Military College Prep cadets and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Any money raised from the festival will go toward other activities for the veterans such as trips to see the Atlanta Braves or to the Perry fair in Houston County. Vendors from around central Georgia pay a small fee and set up on the grounds selling goods ranging from jewelry to specially crafted fishing lures. T-shirts for the event will also be on sale for $10 for sizes up to extra large. All larger sizes are $12.
