Woman accused of switching barcodes

THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The bill for a woman who purchased 21 items at Walmart was $26, but the total should have been $478.29, authorities said. The shopper, Patricia Eubanks, told a store loss prevention officer she removed original price barcodes from the items and replaced them with barcodes at lower prices. And, the woman reportedly told the Walmart officer and police, it was not the first time. According to a Thomasville Police Department incident report, the woman told officers the items were at her house, and she would return them to the store. Senate candidate to speak in Murray County

CHATSWORTH, Ga. — The Murray County Democratic Executive Committee will meet Thursday at the Charles “Judy” Poag Senior Center in Chatsworth. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. followed by light refreshments and a Meet and Greet. Jim Barksdale, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate from Georgia who is running against Republican incumbent Sen. Johnny Isakson, is expected to speak. Meeting organizers say Barksdale is an investment manager, not a politician, who has spent his career “standing against the crowd.” They say now he would like to go to Washington because Georgia needs someone willing to stand against the Washington crowd. The public is invited.
