Seminar covers gun laws

VALDOSTA — Guns in Georgia are a common sight, especially South Georgia. With the increased number of gun-related incidents recently, knowledge of gun laws is important for gun owners to ensure they are staying within the law when carrying a firearm, according to the organizers of an upcoming event. 

Southwind Clays and Quail shooting range hosts a gun law workshop presented by U.S. Law Shield, 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 23.

“Every gun law seminar features an experienced program attorney and law-enforcement professionals that explain basic firearms laws every gun owner should know,” according to U.S. Law Shield’s website.

Topics of discussion will include stand your ground laws, the Castle Doctrine, interacting with the police, search and seizure laws, gun owners liability under civil laws, etc.

Registered participants will receive the book “When Can I Legally Shoot?: Knowing the Law of Deadly Force.”
