VALDOSTA — Dollar Tree opened its third Valdosta store July 21 on Bemiss Road. 

Dollar Tree is a variety store that sells cleaning supplies, non-refrigerated groceries, party variety items, health and beauty aids, greeting cards, toys, cooking supplies, some clothing and other items, Marcia Clark, store manager, said. No item costs more than a dollar.

The company also offers Dollar Tree Direct for bulk purchases that can be used by schools, companies or by residents who wish to purchase a large amount of a particular item, District Manager Alton Marcus said. 

“We didn’t have a store in the area and it is in a great location,” he said. “Valdosta has been a great market for Dollar Tree. We are certainly excited about our third location here.”

There were several customers at the store when it opened at 9 a.m. 

“It looks pretty good,” said Ed Arrowood, a Valdosta resident who lives in the area. “It has a lot of stuff.”

“It is awesome,” Melissa Williams, a resident of Ray City, said. “I know a lot of people from Ray City who are excited about this Dollar Tree.” 

Williams said she is excited about the store being closer to her home. 

Johnny Jordan just wanted to see what the store had to offer for him and his wife. 

“(Stores) sell the same thing, but with different brands,” he said. “Maybe you like one brand more than the other.”

The location was previously a Family Dollar, which is owned by the same company, Marcus said. The parent company has been rebranding various stores from a Dollar Tree to a Family Dollar or vice-versa. 

Dollar Tree is located at 4626 Bemiss Road. It is open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. More information: Call (229) 247-9709.
