THOMASVILLE — Thomasville football has a new coaching staff and a new team for 2016, and it wants the whole community to know about it.
The Bulldogs plan to showcase their team Thursday at 6 p.m., at an event they are calling “Meet the Dogs.” It will be a step that the squad is taking to further connect with the community around them.

“We’ll have all the players sitting around the cafeteria in their jerseys,” Thomasville head coach Zach Grage said. “Community members are welcome to get autographs or pictures, or just meet the guys.”
Also available for the community will be food and team merchandise. Meals will also be provided for $10. Kids can eat for $5 while booster club members will be able to eat for free.
In addition, Grage and his staff will have a chance to directly communicate with fans. It’s an important part of the event, especially with brand new coaches in place.
“Each coach is going to be introduced with a little background on all of them,” Grage said. “Then the coaches are going to take the floor and introduce their own players by their position. It’s a good way to put a name and a face together.”
The event is not a totally new idea, as the school has hosted similar events before. However, the Bulldog staff has taken some influence from schools like Colquitt County in putting their own stamp on it.
“It was something Thomasville has done before. I think it was called the kickoff banquet,” Grage said. “We’re trying to slow it down a little bit more, get the community more involved and get our kids more involved with the community. We want it to be more like the college media days and do things like some of the bigger schools do.”
