Storm damage in Lafayette County

An estimated time of power restoration is not available for Duke Energy or Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative.

Suzanne Grant of Duke Energy stated that Duke Energy is within the first 24 hours of their storm plan and they are still accessing the damage from Hurricane Hermine.

According to Grant, Duke Energy serves 840 customers in Lafayette County. There are currently roughly 600 customers without power and 100 customers have had their power restored.

According to a press release from Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC), they are making progress restoring service to its members.

“Our early efforts have focused on assessing the full extent of the damage caused by Hermine, and restoring some of the lines that serve relatively large numbers of members,” said SVEC’s CEO, Mike McWaters.
