JASPER – Multiple roads are blocked by fallen power lines and trees in Hamilton County. The power remains out in areas around Jasper and the county.
“We’re thankful there were no serious injuries,” sheriff Harrell Reid said. “We still have people who do not have power. We’re hopeful that the power companies will restore residents with power in a 4-5 hours.”

Suzanne Grant of Duke Energy stated Duke Energy is within the first 24 hours of their storm plan and they are still accessing the damage from Hurricane Hermine.
According to Grant, Duke Energy serves 2,900 customers in Hamilton County and currently 2,800 customers are without power.
According to a press release from Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC), they are making progress restoring service to its members.
“Our early efforts have focused on assessing the full extent of the damage caused by Hermine, and restoring some of the lines that serve relatively large numbers of members,” said SVEC’s CEO, Mike McWaters.
The press release stated at the peak of the storm early this morning, about 25 percent of SVEC’s members had power and as of 2:00 p.m., 40 percent of its members had power. SVEC expects to restore power to all members by Monday afternoon.
