HIGH SPRINGS – For the seventh consecutive year, the Phlockers on the Suwannee Parrothead Club has added to its support of Herry’s Kids Pediatric Services, a program of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, licensed 1985. Proceeds from the club’s Tropical Night Rocks the Suwannee social gathering, which is held in June each year at Live Oak’s Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, were presented during its August 25 board meeting at The Great Outdoors Restaurant in High Springs, bringing the club’s total donations to $14,944.09 since it adopted Herry’s Kids as a cause in 2010.
“After so many years as one of our great community partners, the Phlockers on the Suwannee Parrothead Club leaders and members should be proud of all you have done and are continuing to do, bringing support and moments of joy to children with life-threatening conditions,” said Hospice Alachua Team Regional Director Kathy Kavanagh. “On behalf of these children and their families, we once more say thank you.”
Herry’s Kids Pediatric Services also offers grief support and therapeutic camps to young people who have experienced the loss of a loved one. There is no cost for any of its programs and services, which are made possible by support from individuals, groups, organizations and corporations in its communities. More information about programs and services at this nonprofit charitable hospice is available at 866-642-0962 or by visiting www.hospiceofcitrus.org.
Founded in 2007 as an official chapter of Parrot Heads in Paradise, an international organization inspired by and endorsed by Jimmy Buffett, the Phlockers on the Suwannee Parrothead Club is dedicated to preserving and improving the environment. Its annual Tropical Night Rocks the Suwannee event, which features concerts, scalloping, bus trips, pool parties and river cleanup, draws crowds from Parrothead chapters far beyond the club’s Gainesville, Alachua, High Springs, Lake City and Live Oak region. Their members also are active in community-oriented projects and concerns which are charitable, educational and promote the general welfare of the community. As they pursue these goals, they share their interest in the lifestyle and music of Jimmy Buffett, celebrating life with a tropical spirit.
