VALDOSTA — Two men have been arrested on charges related to child pornography, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Friday.
Donald Leroy King, 66, and Roger James McDonald, 61, both of Valdosta, are charged with sexual exploitation of children (possession of child pornography), according to a sheriff’s office report.
The sheriff’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit has been investigating potential cases of possession and sharing of child pornography in Lowndes County, according to the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s detectives searched the North Patterson Street residence of King last week, according to reports.
Authorities say King is a registered sex offender.
Thursday, Nov. 3, detectives served a search warrant at the Lakeshore Drive residence of McDonald, according to reports.
Authorities reported finding “computers with child pornography images of children in explicit poses” during both searches.
Both suspects were taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
The computers were seized and authorities continue searching them.
“This a great work by our detectives to investigate these cases and with the assistance of the computer forensics section and find this child pornography,” Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine said in a statement. “With the addition of our computer forensic capabilities, what previously took months to unravel now takes a few days. We must protect our children, and we will continue to do just that.”
