RAY CITY — A Monday fire in Ray City left several residents, including children, without a home as Christmas nears.
The Ray City Fire Department was dispatched to a trailer fire in the 5300 block of Ga. 37 at 3:03 p.m., said Fire Chief Robert Mikell.

“When we arrived, the trailer was fully engulfed,” he said.
No one was injured, but the trailer was a complete loss, Mikell said.
The residents included a single mother, her 7-year-old daughter and an 18-month-old son, another couple and a teenaged girl, he said.
The Red Cross was called in to assist those who were displaced, and all of the trailer’s residents have temporary places to stay, Mikell said.
Mikell was meeting with the Department of Family and Children Services Wednesday to see if something could be done for the children for Christmas.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, he said.
