VALDOSTA — The last video rental store in Valdosta, the Video Warehouse on Perimeter Road, will close its doors Feb. 25.

The store is selling off all of its remaining DVDs, Blu-rays, video games, VHS, and store racks at a discounted price, according to store owners.

“There were 92 stores at one time,” said Donnie Catrabone, a Video Warehouse co-owner.

Catrabone said only three stores will remain: Albany, Thomasville, and Waycross.

He said Gerald Pryor, owner of the Valdosta store, owned most of the stores.

Pryor began Video Warehouse in Fitzgerald in 1983, Catrabone said.

“We all grew up there (in Fitzgerald),” Catrabone said. “The second store was in Douglas, and we built them one store at a time.”

“We started with VHS,” Catrabone said. “We had a lot of teenagers we gave jobs. We thank the community for their business and we tried to give back to the community.”

Catrabone said Video Warehouse is now selling off its stores, renting its old properties, and venturing into other businesses.

“Technology finally caught up with us,” he said.

Customer David Thompson said he will miss Video Warehouse.

“Now, I have to buy them (movies) from another store where they cost too much,” he said.

The store will be open 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., through Saturday, Feb. 11, Catrabone said.

After that, the store will be open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays until Saturday, Feb. 25.

Video Warehouse is located at 3272 Inner Perimeter Road.
