St. Patrick’s Day golf tournament deadline looms

March 11 is the deadline for entering the Georgia Amateur Golf Promotions’ St. Patrick’s Day Pot of Gold Winner-Takes-All Sweepstakes. The event will consist of three separate events on three different golf courses on three different dates.

Circle Stone Country Club in Adel will host the first event Friday, March 17 with a noon start. The Saturday, March 18 event will be hosted by Quitman Country Club and the Sunday, March 19 event will be held at Francis Lake Country Club in Lake Park.

Format for each event is 18 holes modified stableford based on current and official USGA handicap and point quota open to male amateur golfers 21 years old and older flighted by age (men 21-49, mid-senior 50-59, senior 60-69, super senior 70-up).

Entry fee is $30 plus golf and cart fees and includes first-place prizes of $250 for flight winners (based on a full flight) and random drawing. Optional events include overall players pot, a $10 skins game, $5 closest-to-pin contests, $5 50/50 charity drawing. It’s $5 per ticket (five for $20).

Following play, players are invited to the 19th hole each day hosted by Hooters of Valdosta.

March 11 is also the deadline for the Georgia Amateur Golf Promotions’ Golf Week: April 10-14. The event is conducted at five Valdosta and South Georgia golf courses over five days and is open to female and male amateur golfers 21 years old and older. The format is 72 holes individual modified stableford based on an official USGA handicap and point quota. Players not having a handicap must play in the open scratch flight, flighted by age (men 21-49, mid-senior 50-59, senior 60-69, super senior 70-up). Daily events include daily flight prizes, skins game, closest-to-pin contests, random drawings and a 50/50 charity drawing, as well as a daily 19th hole party, appetizers, favorite beverages and live entertainment.
