Granger wins Georgia seniors event

Matt Granger posted a plus-7 in Georgia Amateur Golf Promotions’ Michelob Ultra Senior Blitz, a modified stableford event, held at The Lakes at Laura Walker State Park.
Granger, the 2016 GAGP Most Improved Player and Hooters Par-3 champion, also had a skin in the skins game. Top eight prize winners included David Beals of Thomasville, 2016 GAGP Golfer of the Year with a plus-6 as well as having two skins and winning the Cheddars of Valdosta Par-3 contest.

Mike Harpe of Valdosta took third place posting a plus-5. Randy Grantham of Waycross captured the low round, posting a 77 and capturing four skins; he finished at plus-4 for fourth place. Jack Coffey, Glenn Walden and John Ungar of Valdosta tied for fifth, posting plus-3s. Bruce Whitley of Waycross posted a plus-2 and had one skin to finish sixth.
Next up on the schedule is Douglas Country Club on April 12.

Upcoming events: GAGP will be at The Lakes at Laura Walker on Monday, before hosting the National Steak Day Classic at the Francis Lake Golf Club in Lake Park on Tuesday. Quitman Country Club in Quitman hosts Wednesday and Circle Stone Country Club in Adel hosts Thursday. The St. Patrick’s Day Pot of Gold Sweepstakes weekend begins Friday and runs through Sunday at Circle Stone Country Club and Quitman Country Club. Next Sunday is the Crab Leg Classic at Francis Lake Golf Club.
