Dedication held for Little School House Museum
WHITE SPRINGS, Fla. — A dedication and ribbon cutting of the Camp School House Museum was held Friday. The one-room Camp school house, circa 1907, was donated by the Camp Family to Hamilton County several years ago, and is now located adjacent to the public library on U.S. Highway 41 in White Springs. Dr. Benjamin Franklin Camp Jr. and his beloved wife Annie built the school from lumber from their saw mill for exclusive use for their family. According to Brenda Gipson, the museum started when she and her husband received three old school desks. She said this will be a great addition to the town. The museum will be open daily once the plexiglass viewing area is installed. For tours or to discuss donations of historic school books or artifacts, please contact Brenda Gipson at 813-986-3597.
