VALDOSTA — A large tree fell across Gornto Road overnight, blocking the street between White Oak Drive and Azalea Drive and causing more than 100 nearby homes to lose power.

Crews are working to clear the tree and restore power, but the city said Gornto could remain blocked for most of the day.

Georgia Power estimates the affected homes will receive power again around 11:30 a.m.

The city said the tree fell from private property.
