TIFTON — The Tift Theatre is holding auditions beginning at 7 p.m. April 24 and 25 for the upcoming summer musical, The Wedding Singer.

Those wanting to audition should prepare about one minute of a Broadway style song to sing a capella, and only need to attend one day of the auditions.

Carlie Shoniker, business manager for the theatre, said that they are looking for a lot of local talent.

The play is very similar to the movie of the same name starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, and the play will need a diverse group of actors, singers, dancers and musicians.

There are nine lead roles in the play, but the show is flexible, leaving it open to casting more or fewer people, and since the characters are all adults, priority will go to those who are 18 and up.

They are also looking for people who can do impersonations, specifically of Billy Idol, Ronald Reagan, Mr. T, Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper or Imelda Marcos.

“It is very 80s,” said Shoniker.

Performance dates for the musical are June 15-17 at 7 p.m. and June 18 at 3 p.m.
