LIVE OAK — Around 75 HOG (Harley Owner Groups) riders from different parts of Florida made the trip to Live Oak to visit the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch on Saturday, April 29.

It was the second consecutive year they visited the Youth Ranch. HOG Riders joined the boys for lunch, delivered donations, and spent the day touring the ranch.

Tom Nathey was part of the large group that drove from Tallahassee, although that’s not where he resides.

Nathey and his wife Arleen are cottage parents at the Sheriffs Youth Ranch in Live Oak.

In his youth, Nathey was one of the boys who received help at the ranch, spending time there from during the mid to late 1970s.

Now he’s getting the chance to impact lives as a cottage parent.

“We try to teach about life,” Nathey said. “To get a call back 6 months to a year later, or sometimes five years later — it is rewarding.”
