Businesses keep opening, moving and closing down in Valdosta. This column celebrates the local spirit of entrepreneurship that keeps our city fresh and growing by keeping the community informed.

Here is a list of businesses that have recently opened, closed and moved or that plan to open soon in the Lowndes County area.

HAHIRA

• Ohana Jiu Jitsu is located at 106 S. Church St. The business opened May 1. Ohana Jiu-Jitsu is a traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program that offers GI and No-GI classes for both children and adults. • Glam Girls Spa Party is located at 1810 N. Ashley St., Suite 7.Business provides spa parties, tea parties, paint parties targeted at girls ages 3-12 as well as spa days for adults. The business opens May 20. Glam Girls Spa Party is open Monday through Friday, 3-8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Contact: (229) 588-4410.

• Cherell’s Personal Shopper Service has no physical location. The business opened April 10. Cherrell’s is a personal shopper service for busy customers. Business hours are 8 a.m.-6: 30 p.m. all week. Contact: (229) 251-2548.

• Locher’s Reptiles does not have a physical location. The business opened April 20. Locher’s Reptiles sells feeder rodents and provides educational talks with snakes and other reptiles. The business is open weekdays from 4-9 p.m. and 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Contact: (229) 444-8616.

• Southern Satellite has left its 3263 Perimeter Road location.

• Quality Transportation does not have a physical address. The business opened April 1. Quality Transportation is a 24/7 van taxi service. Contact: (229) 300-4463.

• Hancock Cleaning does not have a physical address. The business opened May 9. Hancock Cleaning is a janitor cleaning service offering deep cleaning, commercial cleaning, house cleaning and move-out service. The business is open seven days a week, 24/7. Contact: (229) 630-2404 or (229) 415-5130.

• Holy Smokes BBQ has a sign up at the old Mongo restaurant location at 2905 N. Ashley St. If you have any further information, feel free to contact me.

• First Commercial Credit Union is opening up across from the Publix supermarket at 3330 Inner Perimeter Road. If you have any further information, feel free to contact me.

• Marble Slab Creamery is located 1650 Baytree Road. The store closed shop May 7. The store sells a variety of ice cream treats. The owners’ 10-year franchise agreement is coming to a close, and the owners decided against renewing the agreement.  Contact: (229) 244-4920.
