Scott Wilson to attend ‘In Cold Blood’ viewing here

THOMASVILLE — A former Thomasville resident, who portrayed one of two killers in a true-crime movie released 50 years ago, will view the film in Thomasville next week.
Scott Wilson portrayed Dick Hickock in the 1967 film “In Cold Blood” from the book written by Truman Capote. The movie is the story of the gruesome murders of a Kansas farm family. Robert Blake portrayed Perry Smith, Hickock’s partner in crime. In real life, both murderers were executed by hanging.
The showing is at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 25, at the Showboat Theater on South Eden Plantation, 301 Showboat Lane, off U.S. 319 South. Screening tickets are $20.
Also on May 25, Wilson, a Thomasville High School graduate, will sign autographs at the amphitheater from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Autograph tickets are $35 and include a photograph.

The events are presented by the Covey Film Festival, the signature fund-raising event for the Thomasville Resource Center, begun in part by actress Jane Fonda.
Sharon Maxwell-Ferguson, a Covey Film Festival founder, said the Resource Center serves 350 children and their families in Thomas County and the surrounding area with after-school and summer enrichment programs and food for impoverished children, among other services.
“We are thrilled to have him back to celebrate the film,” Maxwell-Ferguson said. “He has been great to work with.”
The Covey Film Festival, located n Thomasville, begins its fourth year in October.
