‘From the Ashes’ documentary to be screened Friday

LIVE OAK — The Suwannee-St. John’s Sierra Club North Florida Working Group is hosting an advanced screening of the documentary film “From the Ashes” on June 9.

The free event, which is open to the public will be held at the Live Oak Woman’s Club, 1308 11th Street SW in Live Oak. The doors open at 6 p.m. with the film starting at 7 p.m.

The film, which is directed by Michael Bonfiglio, highlights the work of the Beyond Coal Campaign, partner organizations and frontline communities in Montana, North Carolina and Texas. It also features organizers and volunteers in those three states as well.

There will be a panel discussion after the screening featuring Susannah Randolph, a campaign senior representative for Beyond Coal, Sierra Club; Joy Ezell, an active environmentalist and the founder of HOPE (Help Our Polluted Environment); and Charles Hodges, a grassroots videographer of coal ash issues in Clay County.
